Under the golden arches

“Mom, can we do a drive-through takeout? I am super hungry!” urged my thirteen-year-old son, Ishaan, when I was driving him to his Taekwondo class last Thursday evening.
I mutter to myself that kids these days are not content on just being chauffeured; they also want to be served meals on wheels!
Instant panic invaded me; my fingers froze on the steering for a fraction of a second. I took a deep breath and replied, “But I have never done that, not sure I can do it!”

Good one Sara. Congratulations for conquering yet another fear. Inspired me to look square into my mountain load of fears and do something about them. I am sure though that I can't be as eloquent as you are to describe it if I ever overcome one of them.

Yeah! go you girl! I did laugh at this. I went to Florida last year and asked for a "Bottle of warter" (in my very English accent) and was looked at as if from another planet! "She means a batl of waaaterrrr" (best US accent) ooooohhhh. #tweenteensbeyond

I just loved this story! I am glad I found your blog through yeahwrite this week! I've read a few of your posts and really enjoy reading your experiences of living here. I've never been out of America, so I have a lot to learn about the world! I am happy for your son (and you!) that he got to try McD's… I was picturing the moment he tried one of their french fries for the first time and how freaking wonderful that must have been, haha!! And yes, I agree, all fried tubers are a bit better on the crispier side 🙂

Never has a trip to MacDonalds been so eloquently described! Absolutely loved this. I know what you mean about the problems with ordering things when you are a bit short! The same happens to me all the time. Thank you so much for sharing with us at #TweensTeensBeyond

Loved this and thank you for joining us here at #tweensteensbeyond. This had me completely drawn in and I howled when I read the fear because it is quite often mine. Over-shooting the bit that you need to be at or ending up talking to the wall. Very funny indeed – I think I'd drive away with no food if I couldn't reach the hand!! You nailed it Sara!!!

I have never read such a beautiful description of a journey under the golden arches. There is a time in every mother's life when she has to subscribe to the drive through, particularly when a hungry teenage boy is in the car, but I am glad that the opportunities for us are few and far between. Thanks for joining us. #TweensTeensBeyond
