Across My Window

I want us to be the pair of geese, sailing in love
in that little pond across my kitchen window.
My idle imagination begins to soar.

My eyes holding the sun, you, and your reflection,
your neck arching towards the rustle of my breath,
I want us to be the pair of geese, sailing in love.

Watchful for interlopers, evil eyes and intentions,
we steer to safety, our brood lined in a neat row,
in that little pond across my kitchen window.

The Marimba tune trills in my apron pocket:
“Something came up, don’t wait,” you hurriedly say. Again
my idle imagination begins to soar.
